On average, a child spends over 3,000 hours at home, versus 40 hours a year at church. This means that you as the parent are the primary spiritual influence in your child's life.
Our primary goal as a Family Life team is to equip you, as a parent, to raise your children to follow Jesus.
This philosophy of equipping stems from Deuteronomy 6:
"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door-frames of your houses and on your gates."
Mill City's Family Life team offers a monthly parent/child equipping space we call “Second Saturday.” On the second Saturday of each month, we gather at the Mill City Church Commons from 10-11:30am for a time of learning together how to grow as families following God. Together we learn how to talk about what God is doing with our kids. We have fun experiences that can be reproduced at home. And we have time to connect with other parents and support each other. Each month is devoted to a different topic. RSVP to if you plan to attend or simply want more information.
